2009 Bluewater Babes
Fish for a Cure
On the weekend of September 25 -26; the much anticipated inaugural Bluewater Babes Fish for a Cure, Ladies KDW Tournament was held at the Square Grouper Tiki Bar in Jupiter. Our community came out and supported Grand Slam in a big way to help us raise money and awareness for the Cancer Alliance of Help and Hope, Inc. With a total of 74 boats participating it certainly lived up to the hype! The event was a raving success with a surprise celebrity donation from local PGA professional Robert Allenby who generously gave $25,000 toward our fundraising endeavors. Grand Slam Tournament Series and Castaways Marina are proud to announce that $50,000 was raised and donated to the Cancer Alliance! This donation is specifically earmarked for breast cancer patients.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of our presenting sponsors, volunteers and participants as we could not have done this without you! The event was a major success and the excitement was palpable throughout the entire weekend. A big thank you to Castaways Marina and the Square Grouper Tiki Bar for helping us host this incredible tournament. The weekend was full of entertaining events, including a male mate auction; create a cocktail contest and a boat decorating contest that made for exciting entertainment throughout the weekend. Mark your calendars for the next Grand Slam event the 4th Annual Jupiter Billfish Tournament, also to be held at the Square Grouper Tiki Bar on January 13-15, 2010. We are also very proud to announce the addition of our Marine Center to the Grand Slam store located in Jupiter, FL; which is scheduled to open in December 2009. We look forward to another great Bluewater Babes Tournament next year and hope to see both new and old faces at our upcoming Grand Slam events!
Friends of Jupiter Beach Dog Wash
Saturday, August 8 was a very special day at the Square Grouper Tiki Bar & Castaways Marina on the Jupiter Inlet. Dogs are usually not allowed inside the Square Grouper, but they were all welcome at this inaugural event; a fundraiser to benefit Friends of Jupiter Beach and recognize its 15th anniversary of beach cleanups and environmental care of the dog-friendly stretch of Jupiter's southernmost shoreline.
The first annual Square Grouper Dog Wash & Tiki Towel Off attracted hundreds of dog owners and pooches for intracoastal frolicking, followed by a good sudsing, to this one-of-a-kind tropical retreat. That evening, the "Party Like the Big Dogs" continued with music, libations and a great silent auction supported by our generous business community.
